There has been a recent development regarding laying of power transmission lines, which will affect all power producers and projects under construction. In a public interest litigation, the Supreme Court of India has passed an order on April 19, 2021 mandating existing and new power transmission lines to be laid underground, subject to feasibility, in some ecologically sensitive habitats housing endangered species such as the Great Indian Bustard, in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
