BTG Briefing: Real Estate and the Future of Work in India

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

BTG Legal is pleased to announce the launch of its Real Estate practice with the joining of Ms. Veena Krishnan as a Partner, in our Bengaluru (Bangalore) office. With this, BTG Legal is equipped to provide a significant new sector and service line offering to its clients globally.

INTRODUCTION

The coronavirus pandemic resulted in many businesses pausing their real estate decisions. With a large number of workplaces relying on employees working remotely, the commercial real estate sector saw a severe downturn, especially during the several months of lockdown.

Pre-commitments in new completions, and occupiers taking advantage of better deals while the market is down have led to an increase in market absorption. At this stage, consumer spending behaviour will be a key determinant of strategy calibration for landlords and developers.

In the edition of BTG Briefing, we will be discussing issues which companies should be looking at going forward. This includes latest legal/regulatory changes, and market trends, as well as renewed interest in areas, such as sustainable and green building. We will also be discussing the need for the real estate industry to adapt to the changing Future of Work.

Date: Thursday, 28th January 2021

Time : 20:30 - 22:00 IST | 10:00 - 11.30 EST | 15:00 - 16.30 GMT | 16:00 - 17:30 CET

KEY ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED

  • What is the current commercial real estate market scenario, as India looks to open up, post the lockdown imposed by the Government?

  • What is the current outlook of occupiers, builders and developers?
