Suruchi Kotoky is a Principal Associate at BTG Advaya, and is a member of the Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources team, where she regularly advises clients on complex contractual and regulatory issues.

Suruchi brings more than a decade of rich experience in diverse project, regulatory and commercial issues, involving the power sector (with a focus on renewables), including EPC contracts, corporate transactions and general corporate advisory support. She has also handled high-stakes regulatory, investigations including fraud reporting, litigation matters and represented multinational clients in ICC arbitrations.

She read law at the Government Law College, Mumbai and holds a LL.M degree in Business Law from the University of Mumbai. Her experience is split between law firm and in-house roles. She worked with Clariant Chemicals, ASP Advocates, KT Advisors LLP and Ostro Energy before joining BTG Advaya.

Advised on EPC contract (supply, erection and commissioning, escrow and operation and maintenance contract) for setting up of 200 MW hybrid power project in the state of Karnataka.

Leading Saudi OEM

Advised on contracts relating to construction, installation, commissioning and other services for the development of a 102.6 MW wind power project in Maharashtra, India.

Leading Indian FMCG company

Advised on setting up of a 13 MW captive wind power plant in Andhra Pradesh, including support in power purchase agreements, business transfer agreements, shareholders agreements, etc.

Advised on regulatory framework of M2M communications, VOIP Services and IoT sims in India.

Indo German Energy Forum

Advised and provided a detailed report on the legal aspects of setting up of agri-photovoltaics projects in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Global pharmaceutical manufacturer

Advised on the head of terms and construction agreement for expansion of a new factory of excipients. Also, advised on the letter of intent and supply contract for the supply of multimedia energy plant (boiler).

Indian renewable energy developer

Advised on umbrella land development agreement for providing services, including acquisition of land locations, access rights, permits and approvals required for setting up a project of 340 MW expandable to 640 MW in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Also, advised on the contract for procurement, construction and commissioning of ‘balance of plant’ for a wind power project of 115 MW.
